Hi tadad1 - I just bought one of these (seems to be the same item from USB id, but mine is english language). My USB id is 0x1101/0x10d6.

1. Is there any use in my dumping my English variant of the same firmware from this new item?
2. Are there alternative firmwares for this unit? I'd love to run iPodLinux. Or anything with a customisable firmware. The user interface is incomprehensible, and matched only by the psychedelic instructions in the user manual.
I thought I'd been ripped off when I first heard it, but it turned out it was just the awful headphones - the device sounds fine through my car stereo.

how did you extract this? i've got the same player (2.0 lcd) but with 9.0.50 firmware and i'd like to know if this one will work on my mp4 it's exactly the same design plz let me know!!
