Rocker81 Keen on MPx players

I recently ordered a nano clone, and should receive it soon. I decided to try and make a custom way to mod the units. I found a nano template, and modified it for the nano clone. Right now since I dont have the clone in my hands, I can't do fitment to make sure it all lines up ok.
The plan is
-Provide you with a customized Photoshop file you just change the color, or image to make your own layout design.
-Print it on removeable sticker paper, cut it out, apply it to the unit. (I have to look into this, as I have some paper and want to test it that it won't adhear to the units permanently)
This will take some skill, and a good printer. Also making sure to use the proper paper that is removeable!!! So if you have some skills, a good printer, and some good paper, should be able to make it work out nicely.
What do you think? Here is an example of the files and how you can change them in photoshop
Once I get the unit, I will adjust it for fitment, and see if the mods want to use it for the downloads section?
Feedback is appreciated!

Hey Ryan,
What a great idea!
Much like interchangable faceplates for your mobile phone - but not entirely. I like the idea.
If someone can write a program, like the ones you use to print lables on cdr discs, but specifically for the Nano clones (or just MPx players in generally), that would be cool.
I know people have asked about faceplates for this, though there isn't any, at this is is getting close to it . |

Yea faceplates are cool, if nobody is making them (yet), you can make a cost efficient method to making your own if you have a good setup...You could probably print them on a vinyl too. The ones you usually get are laser cut it seems. I have some vinyls for my cell phone and they are awesome..this is just kinda of cool because you can make your own designs and print them...as long as we can find a material we can print them on our own and it comes off easily.
My mom made some temporary stickers she put on the refridgerator, but it was a flat style paper, no gloss.
I printed out a set and folded the layout and it looks like it will fit great. The only problem is if you don't have Photoshop, it may no print it at the correct size...so if somebody who knows how to program something like that would be great... |

I tested some epson sticker paper we had at the house, and printed it out, it has hopes to look pretty good! I may have to double the image resolution and you would then print it in page setup at 50% size and get a higher quality print...
these are some test images I just quickly use a razor and cut out the screen/holes/etc to check it for fitment when I get mine in the mail!
This should turn out pretty nice it seems. it folds up perfectly to size, and should work even better when its on a solid surface w/ the stickers
my only concern is paper would pick up dirt easier, so it would probably work best with darker colors/images, or a better paper? any input? |

Yeh, it does look very good when you have it printed.
I don't know much about the sticker paper unfort..... I know the printers have some good clear glossy type stickers. But then again, they have the better printing machines too....... Looking forward to your completed product. Once I get a hold of a Nano fake, I'll try it out and ask a printer to print me some 'samples' to see what it looks like. |

UPDATE
I got my nano clone, had an issue w/ the battery, shipped it to get a replacement, so I will have to wait a bit to get the replacement. But the template itself fit great from the quick test fit. Its just the audio, usb, screen, etc holes that need aligned properly for it to fit once printed.
...if anybody wants to play w/ it themselves, send me a PM with your Email I can email you the photoshop file... |

I would be interested.
Also, what do you think about UPLOADING it to the website? That way, you can be given credit for it and check on how much has been downloaded too... |

good point...I want to wait to release it offically when the fitment is near perfect. Since I had to send my unit back to get replaced due to the battery...I didn't have time to adjust the final fitment of the headphone jack, usb, mic, etc...
I'll upload it for the website once I get it 100% done...
Also, I have edited a lot of my firmwares images to go with a sort of theme. I wouldnt mind redoing the whole layout, because some of the color usage is horrid on the one I got...which I'll post that once I get it all done too probably... |

Can't wait for the 'official' release.
All we need now is to find someone who can program and write a program for it . Much like those cd-printing apps.
If anyone has the Nano fakes, can someone compare the button layouts with the one Rocker81 has done? Just in case there are different Nano clones out there which different button configurations... |

There are different configurations I have one clone with USB on the bottom and earphone jack ont the side and another that is the opposite with the USB on the side and the jack at the bottom. They are both slightly differrent sizes and button placement but it would jut mean altering the template. |

Mine has USB port on the low-right side, and the phone jack is at the bottom of my Nano Clone.
I also have a thing to attach "chains".. Don't know exactly the name but we call "chaveiro", wich comes from "chave" that means "key". So I imagine you could call it a "key holder".. =P |
