well i searched for all the rfw files on net and found some chineese sites and downloaded the firmware

Not on an old rk26 series rockchip, NO

newer RK27 series chips can be backed up so many of the problems experienced with older players is now eliminated, newer rockchips are mainly in branded chinese players at the moment but they are now appearing on ebay in cheap nasty no brand name form

there are 2 on dealextreme at about $50, ugly and gos knows what thery are like
