I am puchasing my first i-platinum from Uxcell which seems to be highly recomened here.

One comment I have noticed on the forums is battery life, I was wondering if a ipod nano battery will fit and work with an i-platinum 2gb 1.8" screen?

Ihave seen this on ebay for a i-platinum replacemnt battery:
Product Description:
*Rechargeable Li-ion Battery for 1.5” i-Platinum MP3 MP4 Player
*Rechargeable Li-ion Battery x 1 pc
*Battery Size: 20mm x 4mm x 35mm H
*Power Rating: DC 3.7V - 250mAh

and a replacement battery for Ipod Nano:
Product Description:
*100% brand new
*High quality replacement Li-ion battery for iPod Video
*Extra long stand-by time
*Light weight, high capacity & low impedence
*No-memory effect
*Voltage: 3.7 V
*Capacity: 400mAH
*User manual & tools are provided

They both have the same voltage but will the Ipod replacment battery fit and work in the i-platinum without damaging it?

Also do you think it will make the playtime last longer?

Has anyone tried or can recomend battries that will last longer.

Hope to chat and join in the forums once in a while, looks like a good place to help me mod the i-platinum (if my girlfriend does not nick it or I decied to give it to her for christmas)

Tom

t.powley , generally for nano-clones, only the ipod shuffle battery can fit into the available space. The other ipod models (20G, 40G, video, nano) all have a much larger sized battery (either longer, thicker or wider).

i'm not really sure about the ipod battery, as they have an additional wire for the capacity/voltage sensor of some sorts. While the nano-clones have only 2 wires.

i've not seen anyone trying with an ipod battery, and even if you used the ipod shuffle battery, the mAh rating is also about the same as the nano-clones.

But you still can get replacement battery either via ebay like what you have found, or from hobby stores. But i tried a search on the internet for hobby kit batteries and seems like all the available manufacturer's lipo batteries are too large for the nano-clones.

Why are clones called MP4 Players, when they don`t play .MP4 at all?
It`s like an MP3 Player which plays Music CDs only.

Thankyou lattesurf,

The ipod battery size is aprox:

width:24mm
length:40mm

I could not find the depth of the ipod battery but i'd imagine it would be the more or less the same thickness.

So it would be a tight squeeze to fit one in, proberbly possible.

The only problem would be the extra wire that you mentioned, after looking on google I found that it might possibly be a tempreture senser wire.

If this is the case then it must be possible to use this battery but charging it my be a bit of an issue. I dont want to end up frying a brand new unit that cost £40

Has anyone elese been tempted to try and fit an ipod battery into their i-platinum? or any one got knowledge or adivce on this matter?

I found this post under the:

http://www.mympxplayer.org/new-battery-transplant-from-ipod-nano-it-works-fine-vt2313.html

Looks like it will work. I have seen a 400mAH in Maplians for £9.98
http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?TabID=1&criteria=ipod&ModuleNo=48938&doy=14m11

When I get the mp4 player I will check it out and keep you posted

I have the same player and wonder if I can make a put new battery in to make it last longer. So any new info on the 400mAh battery? And if so is charging an issue?
