Firstly, let me thank anyone/everyone in advance for any help they may be able to provide me regarding my Chipod. I am a newbie, but do have some computer sense and have been lurking on the forums for the past three days trying to find out ways around some of the problems I seem to be having.
The Info: The Chipod, which was bought for me as a gift by a good-hearted but unsuspecting and naive eBay buyer, was advertised as an 8GB 3rd Generation Ipod Nano.
Its serial number (back side of player) is: 7M7367X6YOP.
It is "Designed by Apple in California, Assembled in China". The back side of the player is a silver/metallic casing that has an Apple logo and "iPod" etched into it - it is a pretty decent looking clone, if you ask me. There are no screws anywhere on the device, so I cannot open the case without snapping it open.

The problems: Basically, I have tried to transfer my music files/library onto my Chipod, with limited success and much failure. What usually happens is that I am able to copy/transfer a certain number of folders/files (basically, one folder for each CD with around 10 - 16 songs on each CD/folder). However, at some point,...
1) one of the folders does not transfer properly and ends up being comprised of files with strange characters that are unrecognizable to me,
or
2) a folder becomes comprised of song files that are from another folder (usually the most recently copied/transfered folder) and neither the files in the original folder or the files in the second folder where the files seem to have been copied/linked/referenced are playable (they are corrupted in both locations).
When any/either of these things happen, my Chipod tends to show the "blue screen" with the hourglass, and the entire player restarts itself.
I have read through and tried to implement the instructions in the
How To: Removing Memory Hack section of this forum, but have encountered a couple of situations:
1) When trying to run the MP3 Player Disk Tool, the error message "Not detected removable disk! Please check the disc connecting, or reboot system!" pops up. If I click "OK", the message reappears. After clicking "OK" a second time, I am taken to the MP3 Player Disk Tool.
2) The MP3 Player Disk Tool states my Chipod's capacity as "0.00 MB".
3) Under the "Partition and Encrypt" tab of the MP3 Utilities Disk Tool provided with my Chipod, I am unable to slide the slider to the right or left (it is immovable). The "Partition/Disk Total Capacity" reads "0 MB" and the "setting encrypted disk capacity" also reads "0 MB".
4) It takes a very long time to format the disk, but after formatting it, it reads as having 4 KB of used space and 7.97 GB of free space (when I right click on the drive in Windows Explorer).
5) I also tried reformatting the Chipod in the Start/Accessories/Command Prompt program. After typing "format f:" and the drive being formatted this way, the following information was displayed:

Despite doing all these things, I
still encounter the same problems copying/playing some of my music files. Strangely enough, my firmware
still works as it did before. I should note that the music files seem to become "corrupted" around the 1 GB of copied/stored files mark, which makes sense when many of these players have been falsely/misleadingly advertised as "8GB" of storage, where 8GB = * giga BITS = 1 giga BYTE.
However, even after reformatting my drive through both Windows and the Command Prompt, the drive is read as having 8 giga BYTES of space.
My question: Does anyone have any idea of what exactly is going on here??? How can I get my Chipod to NOT corrupt some of the music files that I copy to it? I have spent three days trying to figure this out, and cannot think of any more reasons, options, or ideas.
