scatwell I love my MPx player

Out of interest, has anyone managed to revive their player with this firmware package Lolita has provided? When I compiled the firmware from it, it produced a .fw file which reading around seems to indicate it is probably a full factory version, so should work on the matching players.
Lolita, any chance you could download s75_release_v9.1.51nodrm_070215.rar please? My chip is ACU7515_S75 so I think it might be the one.
I will upload the firmware file once I have compiled it.
Many thanks
Scatwell |

That's awesome lolita!
Thanks for sharing this with us. You are more than welcome to upload this to THIS site as well as RapidShare sometimes delets files after a certain amount of time.

Did you manage to compile it? Is it the same as what scatwell posted?
Thanks you all work sharing what you have and your knowledge. I have no programming experience unfortunately and everyone's help and contribution in all aspects is great. |

scatwell,
Yes, generally .fw files are an indication of a FULL firmware file.
However, due to many variations (example, different manfacturers making request to have slight changes to the firmware to the chipset manufacturer), it could not be completely compatible with all players. |

ismaelpc, Did you make any progress with this? I'm still not getting anywhere. I was rather hoping Lolita would upload all he could find on his Actions website but he seems to have disappeared from view

Alex, yes, most give partial success but screen driver not 100% compatible. In fact these are mainly 9.0.48 versions not as listed 9.0.50.
My chip is a AK1022 which I believe is a rip off of an ACU7515 or ACT2097_S75. It's the 2" 220 x 176 screen which I have which seems to be the problem. I can get "partially blind" functionality with a number of firmware files. Lolita has suggested the Uxcell firmware/screen driver, but I've tried the ones from Uxcell site (no good) & I've no idea how to extract the Uxcell screen drivers & put into one of the partially successful firmwares. |

Here's something to play with scatwell. I made a howto for you, it should explain how to change the drivers, etc in the firmware.

Hi all!
Scatwell, i think the .sys and .drv are the files to be replaced, but it's pretty messy, there are lots of files there :/. I'll dissasemble the drivers from the dump and try to see which one is the display one .

Scatwell,
Research done . I found out that the display drivers are called ui_xxxx.drv. Basically all the files that start with the ui_ prefix (User Interface) and have the .drv extension are drivers for the display. But there is a flaw in our logic: Lolita's firmware was only for 1.8 inch screens. I'm not sure that they will work on a 2'' screen like yours but you can try and see what happends.
Cheers! |

Also you need to change the graphic, ui30.res. |

Well we are getting somewhere I think. I actually got some legible (although not really sharp) graphics (the menu) by just changing the ui*.drv files. When I also changed the ui30.res file I still got the menu graphics but the buttons & functions were all wrong and all sorts of random things were happening. A bigger problem is that although (using both of these modified fw's) the device booted, it could not be recognised as a flash disc, so I had to short it back to adfu mode.
I think I just need to keep on trying different combinations from different firmware...
Do you think the screen size is actually relevant or do you think its the pixel resolution that needs matching?
But thanks Alex & Lolita there is I'm sure some steps in right direction & I'll carry on trying to mend this baby. |
