If you have bought a hacked player you should read this.

There is an interesting link on Ebay regarding fake memory sticks, but it would also apply to hacked players as well.
It gives information on how to expose fake memory, and even offers an application that will test the memory for you (costs $2.00).
It also gives detailed information on what action you can take to get your money back along with shipping charges.
If you have bought a hacked player you should read this.

The document can be viewed HERE

There is also a page about Fake Nano's HERE

13\10\06 If possible you should also take a high resolution photograph of the open player so that the chip serial number can be read to verify your claim. If you do not have a good resolution camara you can also use a scanner to get a very clear high resolution image.

Nice post tadad1, i've read the Fake Flash Drives article before. Seems to be easier to identify counterfeit goods through it's packaging like 1G, 2G, 4G, etc, rather than 1GB blah blah..
The Nano Knock Offs is like the daily posts of new users here with hacked chips, disappointment in its functions, blah blah..
eBay should just ban these sellers and blast them off to Pluto or something.. haha..

Why are clones called MP4 Players, when they don`t play .MP4 at all?
It`s like an MP3 Player which plays Music CDs only.

I saw a one seller on UK Ebay selling a ruckload of mp4'S with supposedly 4GB - the strange thing was the number of buyers leaving positive feedback, confirming they were 4GB players !

So, I sent one guy a question asking him if he's sure its a 4GB player, and this is his response this morning :

simon, thanks for email. BEWARE. I gave feedback prematurely I am afraid, and am seeking a refund. I copied 3gb onto it yesterday morning, I looked at the files on my PC and it showed all the folders were there; I listened to a few trax thorugh the day, so beleived it was fine - and gave pos feedback. BUT late last nite I found most of the folders are empty shells - no files copied into them. I got 956mb (1 GB) onto it that worked fine; but if you put more than 1GB on it, it corrupts - and at this moment it looks like the entire unit is unusable. Have not tried formatting yet. Its a great item and has the stated functions, but has been faked and is only 1GB not 4GB; if you buy one you cannot risk putting over 1 GB on it, otherwise it will corrupt the whole thing. I found this link helpful but sadly too late for me. regards,Ian http://reviews.ebay.com/BEWARE-of-FAKE-1GB-2GB-4GB-8GB-USB-Flash-Drives-on-eBay_W0QQugidZ10000000001236200?ssPageName=BUYGD:CAT:-1:SEARCH:3

Well, it would take a month of sundays to report all these sellers - its about time ebay got their act together and stopped this fraud.

Cheers

Si
