Is there a step by step guide or program to upload music, video's, photo's, address book ect to the mp4 players as I am having trouble uploading video's and photo's

If you would like to put a few more details what make and type your player is, then perhaps someone might be able to help you

The player is an 8gig ipod clone, I can upload music but don't know how to upload video's, photo's or address book.

Firstly before you try to do anyhting with your Mp3 player, are you certain what you have is 8GB memory capacity?

I doub't it very much for a ipod clone to have that much flash memory, you will be lucky if you have 2GB memory capacity in total.

Sorry for being negative! but it a common factor here, you most likely have a player showing hacked memory to read 8GB.

I suggest you download the AMV convert tool 3.68 which has a tool within it so that you can reformat your players memory to show it's true value.

Go to the download section and you will see the AMV convert tool 3.68

Can you tell us more about the type of player you have? The easiest is to find the sample video you have on your player.

If it's a .AMV then it's an Actions based player.
If it's a .SMV then it's a Sigmatel based player.
If it's a .AVI then most likely a ROCKCHIP based player.

For ACTIONS based players, if you use Windows Explorer, just transfer the files to your player like you would to a USB memory stick.

For Sigmatel based players, you might need to put them into specific folders such as a "mvideo" folder.

This is a nano clone which I believe the memory is hacked. I have put about 900 mp3 songs on the player.which work fine when I use amv converter and upload the video's I get either empty disk or file error in the movie file of the player.

The last part "First GB playable & recordable" is the dead givaway thats it's a hacked player. What the seller has said is "This player is only 1GB in size, i'm trying to trick you into thinking it really holds 8GB by telling you it's compressed memory"

In plain terms, it's only 1GB and thats all you'll be able to put on it. If all your files were zipped, sure you 'might' get 8GB on it.. but you can't play zipped or compressed mp3s or vids. Playable or not it's still only 1GB. The likely reason your videos won't play or come up with 'file error' is because the vids simply are not there because it's being written to 'fake memory'. Your seller wouldn't happen to be ebayseller2008 would it? He is notorious for selling players under this false premise.
I seriously doubt all 900 of your mp3's actually play.

Demand a refund ASAP.. you've been ripped off my friend.

You will need to use the disc tool within the 3.68 disc tool utilities, and format your player.

Plug in your player, open disc tool utilities, set check box to low, click on Partition and Encrypt, move the slider all the way to the right and click start, when it has finished, click box ok. While you do this your PC will redetect your player.

Then move the slider all the way to the left, then click start again this process will be the same as the first.

After doing the above, if you check your memory it will then show it's true capacity, and your player will become more useable and stable.

It won't hurt if you now format within windows to FAT format for players under 2GB, and it's job done.

When plugged in windows shows usb 2.0 (hs) adfu device I have followed the instructions on your dead player forum but I don't know what firmware to use.

Well known scammer that seller, but he puts his get out clause at the end of the paragraph which states players memory capacity.

I don't know if you could succeed in a claim a gainst him.

Did you try to back up your firmware before you did the dead player recovery?

Wait until someone gives you some more info on the present status of your player.

I flashed mine as it had the hour glass showing also, and cloned a good player I have, and loaded the cloned players software into the player that was faulty and it seems to be working ok at the present.

I have just bought the same player from the same seller (read this posting too late). I would like to know as much as possible about this player (my 1st chipod, I have zero previous knowledge). Could anyone with knowledge of the hardware of this player, please, share their knowledge? Hope the pictures helps.

My player has also died now. Only the hour glass is showing. In windows device manager it is detected as a usb 2.0 (hs) adfu device, but I cannot access it. I have not managed to complete the instructions in the dead player recovery howto, so it is still dead. The update driver step does not work. Seems like it requires some kind of driver cd, but the player came without a cd.

If you (xes042) managed to access the player, please tell me how.
