I am extremely upset. This evening, while listening to mp3s on the glacier I received from UXCELL via their eBay username discounttown, I suddenly heard a loud buzzing sound in my right earphone. Thinking that the earphones were defective, I unplugged them from the player. But the buzzing sound continued when it switched to speaker mode. All of a sudden the player restarted... and yup... you know the drill... stayed stuck on the hourglass. I switched it off and back on again, and this time it got to the main screen, but before I could press any buttons, it restarted AGAIN. This continued for about five minutes before I got fed up and put the player aside. About half an hour later when I regained my patience I picked the player up again, took the battery out and put it back in, turned the switch on and off, and nothing happened. No hourglass, nothing. Now I know that the battery could not possibly have drained that fast because it was just full. I plugged it into the computer, the AC adaptor, and pressed all the buttons, took out the battery and put it in yet AGAIN, but nothing. The computer wouldn't even recognize the player. I wrote an angry e-mail to UXCELL demanding for them to explain the problem but they obviously didn't read my e-mail and replied a few minutes later that I should "check it" for viruses with an antivirus program, not addressing my problem at all.

What should I do? I've only had the player for a week and a day and in no way was it abused. I really don't want to go through the hassle of sending it back to Hong Kong for an outrageous postage when UXCELL are the ones who sent me a defective player in the first place, but I don't really have a choice. I'm at my wits' end.

this is a common problem in mp4 players with nokia battery as far as i have noticed.

i have a mp4 player which uses the bl-4c battery too and it gave me the same problem.

the solution is to replace the battery provided with the mp4 player with a genuine nokia bl-4c like i did and it worked for me. not only do they solve the restarting problem but since they are 600mAh or something like that, they give you much more battery life than the ones which come with the mp4 player and have 320mAh

when you are buying the battery, please put it in and try it in the shop itself to see if it works.

if it still doesnt, then its a problem in the player and has to be replaced in my opinion.

Thanks for your reply deepakrr. I have a couple questions though. What exactly was wrong with your player? How did you know to buy another battery to solve the problem? Are you having the same problems I'm having? I have a sneaking suspicion that the problem with my player is an internal and not a battery problem because it was fully charged when the problems started. I don't know what to think. I'm waiting for a reply, and hopefully a refund from UXCELL. I was also reading around and found that Que, another user on this forum, had gotten 2 glaciers and both of them died on him in the same day! This cannot be a coincidence. UXCELL really needs to check the reliability of their players

the problem with my player was that suddenly it used to restart in between anytime and kept on restarting for around 5 minutes before it allowed me to operate again. also, whenever i used to charge, it used to charge for about 5 minutes and then the light on the screen and the charge icon used to remain static.

buying another battery was just a hit and trial method used by me which worked.

if you doubt it something to do with your player, then please go ahead and ask for a refund from UXCell because i was not aware that so many people have found that their glacier died within days of purchase. thats really strange

princessanne1026,

Have a read at this post here: http://www.mympxplayer.org/viewtopic.php?p=19592.

UXcell are actively chasing up problems with their players, so it will be best to PM them directly.

Thanks for your advice admin. I PMed the Uxcell representative and he was very understanding and kind. He said that he would arrange the reshipment of another glacier at no cost to me! I didn't even have to send the defective player back. They are very trusting! I totally did not expect that response.

WOW! I must commend UXCELL for their great customer service. After I PMed Keith, the UXCELL representative here, telling him about my problem and asking for a course of action, he graciously replied that he would make sure UXCELL reshipped a working glacier to me. I just decided to sit back and wait, knowing how long those kinds of things could take. Imagine my surprise when 3 days after the PM, I received a reshipment confirmation (that was last Thursday, the 25th). I thought it would have taken them a much longer time than that to get my reshipment out. Keith must have really gotten on their case Smile . Imagine my even GREATER surprise when I received the player today, only 3 BUSINESS DAYS after the reshipment! From Hong Kong! WOW! Amazing, I tell ya. I didn't even know that was possible. The glacier (a white one this time) works fine and hopefully it won't randomly die like my other one. *crosses fingers* Thank you so much UXCELL. I look forward to doing business with you again because of your graciousness and honesty.

princessanne1026, Keith is a great ambassador for Uxcell and despite the difficulties some members may have getting problems sorted I think they are in the business for the long term and will continue to look after there customers as best they can.
