It would help if you provided more information. I am not sure why the s1mp3 team decided not to advertise this release. Perhaps it is still in pre-beta stage and may kill some players. Did it work for you?

Use v4.0. |

If I understand you correctly, you were able to extract firmware from your player, edit it, reflash to your player, and have it continue working? |

yea, i got the on screen to changed to the ipod looking one that is on these fourms, its several images, making it "move" and it flashed correctly and worked. It is a 9.1.52 firmware. and it plays AMV. I can still get original bootscreen (it said invoative technology) up but some time it flashes, sometime it dont. i dont know how im suppose to be doing this.

If your monitor brightness is high enough u can see the screen say the firmware in the left picture and the on screen changed to the a ipod one.
Im, gonna give up, i cant change anything except the image when you turn it on. If anyone got any info please post. |

yeah i was able to extract firmware, and modify it..
it has a different format though..
wont accept bin files..
new version worked perfectly for me Lolita..
fu4f043j9g: v9.1.52 doesn't have the same file names as 3.xxx so you have to change their file names first and the image must be exactly the same size as the one you will replace.. i might upload my new theme..
its a mixture of some themes i got here..
(how do i upload files here?) |

I'm not interested in whether it is able to extract the firmware, but more of whether modifying and then flashing the firmware back to the player works without bricking it. |

Lolita: it works fine for me.. it enabled me to change everything on my player except the hourglass screen.. even the boot sequence..
so far i haven't killed my player yet.. i think i have written at least 20 times on it using this s1res..
i think its perfectly safe for the 9.x.xx versions.. |

The hourglass is in the BREC. Changing it to another 20x36 image is all that you can do with it. If you want to do that, then do a lot of reading at s1mp3.org and study the hardware in detail, know basic Asm programming and using a hex editor, etc.

What player version (CPU, board ID, etc.) do you have, which works? |
