I recently had an email from a trader who had been conned by a wholesaler in Hong Kong who supplied him with thousands of dollars in hacked players. I notice that a few of our members have also have also unknowingly been conned by these manufacturers\suppliers so maybe it is time we listed the crooks at the top of the ladder.
Here is the info Jon sent me.
"Warning!!! Hacked 4GB and 2GB players
Supplier Hong Kong Ease Vision Digital Tech Co., Ltd. hk.evison
Frank Tam sales manager
The company is also known as hk.evision
and its website address is www.evhk.com
This supplier is knowingly supplying hacked players
The 4GB players contain 2GB memory chips reprogrammed (hacked) to show a capacity of 4Gb
And the 2GB players contain 1GB memory chips hacked to show 2GB of memory.
Also I ordered EV 880b players and was sent the cheaper EV 880
The price difference between a 4GB EV880b and a 2GB 880 is a huge $26 USD per player price difference!!
Also unless you remove the hack (which takes a bit of time) you will find that the reprogramming fries the chip and the player becomes useless.
Please DO NOT deal with this guy, he will rip you off.
I have already had contact from a person wanting to deal with this company and he told Frank Tam that he had read my warnings about thier company.
He was told by Mr Tam that my problems were being sorted out..
I first contacted Mr Tam on the 19th December telling him that I had discovered that the players were hacked and asking him what he was going to do about it and he has not returned one Email since then, so whatever he tells people regarding fixing my problems would be lies.
This type of rip off does seem to be common practise in China so make sure that you ask for a sample and even then only make small orders until you are satisfied with the quality of the goods.
Thanks
JON"
